A number of years ago I hosted a 21-day teleseries called The Feminine Quest. I had the opportunity to speak with many wise and wonderful women and then to interview 21 of them for the series. I loved each and every one of the women and the interviews.
Each woman had wonderful stories, insights and tools to share to support us in moving with courage, in the face of sometimes overwhelming odds, into lives of greater passion, purpose and authenticity.
As I was sitting quietly this morning a quote from one of those conversations came back to me. The exact quote, actually a daily prayed shared by Cathleen O’Connor, goes like this, “Dear Divine Love and Light, please guide me today, please let my actions be aligned with the highest good of my Soul and that of everyone else. Please whisper to me when I need to make a change and don’t drop a piano on my head.”
Cathleen and I were talking about what happens when we ignore the whisperings of our Soul, when we allow our analytical left brain to talk us into things that we sense on a deep intuitive “Soul” level are not right for us at the time.
Sadness, depression and physical illness or injury are the usual consequences of ignoring those whispers and not following our deepest knowing. This is what Cathleen is referring to as the “piano on my head”.
How many people do you know who have been crippled by anxiety or depression, laid up by an injury or whose life has been impacted by a serious, chronic disease? Are you one of those people?
When you look back can you see that you were distracted, too busy to pay attention to the more subtle messages Spirit was sending? Did you intentionally choose to ignore those messages because they would have required you to make a change that felt scary or painful?
Let’s be honest, we’ve all been there. Sometimes the consequences aren’t as dramatic as crippling anxiety, injury or illness. It may be more like a quiet desperation that pervades your everyday life. You may go through each day on autopilot, with little or no energy, passion or joy.
We are not meant to live this way. We are here to live vibrant, authentic, passionate and purposeful lives. All of the women in the series have shared that same message, in their own unique way. Interviewing them and then listening to the calls again moved me into a place where I had to make a very difficult decision if I was to follow the whispering of my Soul and avoid the piano being dropped on my head!
I couldn’t host this series, invite others to transform and talk about authenticity and integrity if I wasn’t willing to listen deeply to the messages I was receiving about the changes I needed to make in my own life. I have to walk my talk, practice what I preach and be appropriately transparent in my process.
So, ask your Higher Self some important questions today. Pay attention to your dreams. Notice the synchronicities in your life.
Are certain themes or patterns coming up repeatedly? Do you find that your heart and your mind are not in alignment on certain issues?
I invite you to slow down, pay attention and ask for guidance.
May you be guided today, may your actions be aligned with the highest good, may you follow the whisperings of your Soul and may you not need The Universe to drop a piano on your head to get your attention. Namaste.
